* EU Financial Assistance For Gib Businessess – The Current Situation
The 2000 - 2006 ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) programme is still available for certain projects pending the introduction of the new 2007 - 2013 programme.
This means that the private sector can still apply for funding. But time is running out for applications under this 2000 – 2006 programme.
The fund is available to give financial support to intending start-up businesses and also to established businesses wanting to expand or diversify.
Whilst some sectors are not eligible to apply, such as retail, wholesale and the Finance Centre, the vast majority of other activities in Gibraltar are eligible.
Financial support can be as much as 30% of the project by way of a grant, in relation to capital expenditure and other costs, such as marketing and rent subsidy.
Many companies have benefited from such assistance over the period of this programme.
If you have a project in mind, it is imperative that you discuss the possibility of an application for assistance well before you start to incur expenditure or committing yourself to contracts. Retrospective expenditure will not be allowed.
Advice on your possibilities to access the fund is free and will lay your options before you. Subsequent assistance in preparing the application can incur a charge depending on the extent of the project.
In addition Charles Gomez & Co. is able to assist with licensing, leases, employment contracts, business contracts and business set up generally.
